Swedish style four branch gilt bronze and cut glass Chandelier: the gilded frame with semi-circular supports and three diminishing tiers above; dressed overall with cut-glass oval prisms and ‘icicle’ pendants. Restored and wired with inner splay of lights.

Glossary Words
'oval' prism
Named for its shape; this facet-cut glass prism is often used in graduated chains. Originally French, from the mid-18th century, they were made right the way through to the modern day. A thinner variety is also used on Swedish chandeliers.

Tapered cut-glass pendant with multi-facetted cutting, in the shape of an icicle.
