the black-bronzed centre with three foliate gilt branches bearing frosted shades, with gilt finials above and below; suspended on three chains from ornamental top boss.
Circa 1830, restored with replacement shades.

A non-drying, yellow oil with little odour, obtained from the seeds of brassica campestris. In the Regency period, this was burned to provide light. See Argand.
