Unusual French milk-glass tassle Fringe Light:
with gilded circular peireced mount and lampholder; dressed with hangers of five cut-glass prisms and cut-glass ‘Albert’ pendants named after the Prince Consort.
Circa 1920, made using older 1880 glass, restored and rewired.

Glossary Words
opaline
Fine semi-opaque, white and coloured glass, developed by the French in the first half of the 19th century, with a translucent quality.
cut glass
Often now referred to as 'crystal', the glass was blown and shaped, then passed to a specialist cutter, who would polish and cut patterns to enhance its brilliance.
'Albert' pendant
A long cut-glass pendant particularly popular in the Victorian period, hence the homage to Prince Albert. These can be straight or tapered and cut with various designs.
