Amethyst glass Moser Vase with gilded warrior frieze:
the 12-panel cut glass vase with broad gilded frieze of classical figures of warriors and centaurs on a foliate ground. Known as ‘oroplastic’ technique. Engraved maker’s mark to base ‘Made in Czechoslovakia Moser (Karlsbad)’, circa 1917. To a design by Josef Hoffmann.

Moser, Ludwig

Ludwig Moser (1833-1916), a Bohemian glass-producer and engraver who established a glassworks in 1857. Produced enamelled, engraved and gilt-decorated cased glass in the 1890s and came under the influence of Art Nouveau in 1900.
