Art Nouveau glass ‘Cornflower’ Vase with gilded decoration:
the textured glass hand enamelled with blue cornflowers and leaves; with gilded highlights and rims to vase. French, circa 1900; possibly Mont Joye.

Art Nouveau

Late 19th and early 20th Century style originating in France and Belgium. Its influence spread all over Europe and America through periodicals like the Studio magazine. Mont Joye

The Legras & Cie glass factory, St Denis, Paris, France (1864 - 1914) produced elegant enamelled and cameo Art Nouveau glass, often featuring flowers or butterflies. Marked 'Legras', 'L & Cie' and 'Mont Joye & Cie'. After WWI, it merged with Cristallerie de Pantin (see 'Pantin, Cristallerie de') to form Verreries et Cristalleries de St Denis et Pantin Réunies.
