Flute-cut Lobmeyr Tumbler with finely engraved hunting scenes:
with thumb-press pattern to the base and double V pattern above ridge; with cartouches of huntsmen and hounds, and a floral crest and top frieze of hunting scenes and quatrefoil ornament; engraved German script, ‘Jagen auf grunerheit bringt lust und freidt’. Circa 1890.

J. & L. Lobmeyr & Co. is a glassware company from Vienna, Austria. It was founded in 1823 and is still in operation. Lobmeyr chandeliers hang in many prestigious locations including Schönbrunn Palace, Austria, Vienna State Opera House, the Metropolitan Opera House New York, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Washington, and the Kremlin. In 1883, in partnership with Thomas Edison, they co-developed the first electric chandeliers. Also well known for producing Schwarzlot glass ware.
