Frosted and clear cut glass Colza Dish with storm shades:
the frosted dish cut with a palm leaf and ‘Greek key’ pattern; the gilded metal mount with classical decoration and centre urn, suspended on four ornamental chains from top boss.
Circa 1880, in the style of an 1840 Colza Dish, restored and wired for electricity, with replacement frosted glass shades.

colza oil
A non-drying, yellow oil with little odour, obtained from the seeds of brassica campestris. In the Regency period, this was burned to provide light. See Argand.
