Frosted glass Art Deco Ceiling Light by Simonet Freres,
the central frosted dish with stylised leaf-and-berry design, and
eight ‘petals’ with berry clusters; the silver-plated frame, with
geometric motifs suspended on four chains from ziggurat boss.
Circa 1925, restored and wired with internal ring of eight lamp
holders plus one in the centre.

Art Déco

A popular movement in the 1920s and 30s, promoted by Ruhlmann and other great Paris furniture manufacturers, and the big department stores. The style was influenced by Aztec and Egyptian design, the Ballets Russes, Hollywood musicals and the new ocean-going liners. It featured stepped and geometric designs, sunrays and chevrons.
